Sword, montante, light
Sword, Longsword, Blade, Latin Europe, Mediterranean, German, Landsknecht
A large two handed sword, of a size roughly mid-way between a longsword and a zweihander, or roughly five feet / 60" / 150 cm in total length. These are used by infantry rather than cavalry, and along with larger 'true' two-handed weapons, began to appear in the late 15th Century. These were popular in Central and Northern Europe as well as in Southern European regions like the Iberian peninsula and Italy. They were often used by elite troops and bodyguards.
